Give a character different versions, and build a playlist
October 2026
A release about making v0.20's groups and fan fiction feel finished: characters can now hold several versions, your music can follow a playlist instead of just a theme, and achievements and statistics catch up with everything groups added.
Give a character different versions. Open a character and add a version, such as "Year 1" or "Grown up", with its own label and a short premise. A version starts from the base character and only the fields you change move away from it; the rest still updates when you edit the base. Pick a version when you start a personal story, in the roster of an existing one, or for a group character in a group's wizard or brief. Fields you don't want a version to carry can be excluded one at a time, falling back to the base. Deleting a version moves any story that was using it back to the base character. A character holds at most 100 versions.
Develop a version with AI. A version can be filled out the same way a base character can, from the AI's knowledge or a web search, and the fields fill in one at a time as they come back instead of waiting for the whole sheet. A Stop button ends the run early with no charge.
Background-music playlists. Add a track to a playlist from any music card on the Sound Library. The Sound tab of Settings manages your playlists: reorder, rename, delete, set a repeat count or turn on shuffle. The sound panel at the top right switches your active playlist and gets a Next button. A playlist plays only when nothing more specific does, below a story's or a theme's own music, and it stays on your device.
Group achievements. Joining a group, putting your first story on a group's shelf, getting a brief suggestion accepted and creating a group each unlock a badge.
A premium achievements section. Opening a Learning module, finishing a flash-card test, reaching 100 flash-card answers, playing an audiobook special, reading a comic special and reading a picture book in a translated language each unlock a badge of their own, shown in a section that only a premium account sees. The badges you already earned stay earned if your premium period ends, and the section comes back the moment it starts again.
Statistics catch up with groups. The statistics page now counts groups, group stories, brief entries and accepted suggestions, group characters, passage rewrites, choice hints and more. A new Fellowship discovery track tracks joining and writing in groups, without changing any track or title you already hold.
Course word tooltips in English don't repeat themselves. On a course where English is the language you're learning in, the word tooltip used to show the same English meaning twice. It now shows it once.
Fixes. Saving a chapter you wrote yourself, with no AI generation involved, works again. A group's creator now gets credit for joining it, the same as anyone else who joins. The "Same story, new words" badge now unlocks the first time you open an already-translated picture book, not only while a fresh translation is still running. Saving a character version used to lose a develop's longer, list-shaped answers; those are kept now. The two flash-card quests and the "Story exported" achievement could never be earned. They unlock correctly now. Error-finding exercises now mark the exact wrong word. A correct tap is graded correct, and the feedback shows the corrected sentence as the Target. Feedback explains mistakes in plain language instead of internal terms. Chapter numbers on a Learning course page now agree with the chapter you open. A course you made can be switched between Private and Public. "Keep going" opens an existing public course for the next chapter instead of only offering to build a new one. A module answer submission that fails to reach the server can be retried without losing your answers. Group labels and brief chips are readable in dark mode now.
Security hardening. This release tightens how uploaded images are decoded and served, and a few other internal checks.
