0.5.0 is the biggest release in the project's history, and it is unlikely to be beaten. It arrived on 4 July 2026 with a rewritten writing engine and then kept growing for nearly three weeks, until the app that went into public beta barely resembled the one that started the month.Because so much landed under one version number, the list below is long. The short version: the prose got better, you got control over how it is written and how the app looks, and almost every feature the app has today showed up here.
Rewritten prompts and a new generation pipeline. Structured output, per-format generation profiles and a story bible rendered into readable prose, all aimed at chapters that hold together better.
You pick the model. Generation model is your choice, priced by a visible credit factor, instead of one pinned setting.
Prose that reads like a person wrote it. Explicit rules against the tics that give machine writing away, em dashes among them.
Crossovers. Merge two of your own stories: characters and elements are extracted, the app proposes premises, and a guided wizard walks through creating the result. Chapters link back to the sources they came from.
The Designer. Restyle effectively every element of the interface, with light and dark configurations, live previews, saved themes and favourites.
Themes worth sharing. Save a theme, clone it, publish it, or have one generated for you. Backgrounds can be searched from Pexels, and scrollbars are colour-fitted to the theme rather than left as browser default.
Text credits and premium tiers. Usage is accounted server-side with a reserve-and-settle model, monthly resets and refunds when generation fails. The cost of an action is shown before you spend it.
Comments and discussions. Threaded comments on stories and chapters, moderated, with an edit window and delete authority for both the author and the story owner.
Research briefs. Search-grounded briefs you can attach to a story so its world rests on something real, plus a public library of briefs to browse and rate.
Scene builder. Reusable scenes, mirroring how characters already worked, selectable per chapter and sticky along a branch.
Better character creation. A guided wizard, the option to flesh a character out from a story that already features them, and a branch-safe timeline of how they changed.
Story finder. A two-level filter with configuration badges, and typeahead across stories, characters, scenes and themes.
Ratings and path statistics. View counts and look-ahead at every choice point, thumbs ratings, and ranked tables that sort by score rather than raw totals.
Planned outlines. Sketch an act-based outline when creating a story and every later chapter is written with it in view.
Story creation as a wizard. The old single form became a multi-step flow, with generated title and description suggestions to pick from.
Export and import. Take a story out as a versioned archive or as browsable offline HTML, and bring one back in. Imports are re-screened on the way through.
Unlisted stories and embedding. A visibility level between private and public, plus an embeddable reader for dropping a short story into another page.
Bring your own key. Generate images with your own provider key, straight from the browser. The key never reaches our servers.
Consistent images across a story. Choose how strictly chapter images should match: free rein, a locked preset, or anchored to the first image.
Swappable icons. Choose an icon pack, or set your own Unicode characters, per area of the interface.
A phone and tablet pass. A drawer for navigation, utility controls collapsed behind a single menu, phone-friendly modals, and per-element show, hide or hide-on-mobile settings.
Custom choices. Premium readers can write their own next move instead of picking one of the generated options.
Invites and a social hub. Invite specific people into a private story, with one place to see what has been shared with you.
A public statistics page. What the site is doing in aggregate, recomputed hourly.
Integrated image generation. Chapter images generate in-app rather than needing an outside tool.
A rebuilt recap. "The story so far" became a scrollable reading view with the chapter text expanded rather than a terse summary.
Legal pages. Terms, privacy, imprint, disclaimer and copyright, in English and German, with a copyright reporting route.
Abuse protection. Rate limiting with a clear message when you hit it, and a guard against other sites hotlinking our images.
An admin area. User lookup, tier and credit grants, an audit log, alerts and a review queue for flagged content.
Steadier streaming. Generation recovers from interruptions instead of losing a half-written chapter, and salvages usable output from a truncated response.
Settings that make sense. User settings split into preferences and account, and "age category" renamed to the clearer "reading level".
