Longer chapters, outlines that steer, and a wishlist
July 2026
This release is about the writing itself. Chapters come out at the length they promise, the prose reads like a book again, and an outline is a real plan the story follows rather than a note it forgets.
Chapters reach their full length. Every infinite-story chapter now carries a 2,500-word floor, and the price did not move. Long-form short stories are written in several passes behind the scenes, so an 8,000-word chapter actually arrives as one.
The prose reads like a book again. A round of style rules from early July had quietly flattened sentences into short fragments. Those rules are reworked, and the chosen reading level now genuinely shapes sentence complexity, vocabulary and depth, from picture book to adult.
Outlines steer the story. A planned outline names the beat each chapter must reach, your choices decide how it gets there. The reader shows which beat you are on, how far the story has drifted from the plan, and offers the creator a one-click re-plan when it drifts too far.
Outline generation works properly. Big outlines no longer cut off midway with a parse error, units appear one by one while they generate, and outline generation has its own cheaper rate instead of borrowing one from analysis.
Join a story in progress. Characters, scenes and research documents can be attached to a running story from any chapter onward. The generator introduces a newcomer once and then treats them as established, and retiring someone drops them from future chapters without rewriting old ones.
A community wishlist. Suggest features and vote on what matters, five open suggestions and five votes per person. Shipped or declined items free their slots, and an admin reviews suggestions before they go public.
One setup step in the story wizard. Characters, scenes and research now share a single step, and the research picker is a real search instead of a dropdown of everything.
Queue positions are real. While a generation waits its turn, the position shown is the actual place in line, counting only items ahead of yours.
Icons you can find. Every icon role in the Designer has a human name and keywords, so searching for the page you saw it on finds it. All roles are reachable now, six previously were not.
Site notices. A banner carries announcements and planned maintenance. During a maintenance window reading and browsing keep working, saving pauses briefly, and a blocked save brings the notice back into view instead of a cryptic error.
Fairer billing on failures. A generation that dies without producing anything refunds its credits, and that now holds even if you close the tab while it is still retrying.
