The daily reading quest now counts every real read

October 2026
An audit of the achievement and quest tracking that shipped with groups and fan fiction found several real reads and actions that never counted, and a few that counted too much. This release fixes the tracking and thanks affected readers with a few free credits.
  • The daily reading quest counts every real read. Opening a story, a crossover or a short story each count now, with one read per short story. Before this release, a crossover or a short story never moved the quest.
  • Picker previews and Learning pages don't count as a read. Glancing at a story in a picker, or opening it from a Learning page, no longer counts toward the daily quest.
  • Several achievements now count what you actually did. Publishing a short story, and your third saved theme, now count toward the right badges. A comment you later delete no longer counts toward "Comments written". An unlisted story no longer counts as published.
  • "Stories opened" counts distinct stories by other writers. The statistic now reflects how many different stories you've opened, not how many times you opened them.
  • Author first steps are credited from your real stories. The first badges for publishing and continuing a story now look at what you actually did, including short-story-only writers.
  • Progress no longer gets lost with two tabs open. Reading or writing in two tabs or two devices at once used to let one tab's progress overwrite the other's. Both are kept now.
  • A thank-you for affected readers. If your reading did not count correctly before this release, you received 5 credits as a thank-you for your patience.
