Copyright Policy

This Copyright Policy is part of our Terms of Service. We respect the intellectual property rights of authors and creators. Users of this platform must not upload, share, or publish content that infringes the copyright of others. This page explains how to report suspected copyright infringement, how we handle reports, and what to do if your content is removed.

Reporting Copyright Infringement

If you believe a story on this site infringes your copyright, you may report it in one of the following ways.

1. Registered users (preferred / in-app)

If you have an account, use the "Report copyright infringement" action available next to each story. That action opens a form that requires the following information (all required unless stated otherwise):

• Full name — Your full legal name. If you represent an organization, include the organization name.
• Contact email — An address we can use to contact you about the claim.
• Address & phone (optional but recommended) — City and country are helpful.
• Identification of the copyrighted work — A short description of the original work you claim has been infringed (e.g., title, date, where originally published).
• URL(s) of the allegedly infringing material — Direct link(s) to the story(ies) on this site (auto-fillable if reported from the story page).
• Description of the infringement — A clear explanation of why you believe the content infringes your copyright (e.g., "This is a verbatim copy of my short story published in X on YYYY-MM-DD").
• Good faith statement (checkbox) — "I have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."
• Accuracy & authority statement (checkbox) — "I declare under penalty of perjury that the information in this notice is accurate and that I am the copyright owner or am authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner."
• Electronic signature — Type your full name to serve as your signature.

Submitting the form will create a ticket/record in our system and will mark the story with a flagged status. By default the flagged story will be hidden from public view while we review the claim.

2. Non-registered users (alternative)

If you do not have an account, you may send the same information listed above by email to:

Please include the required elements exactly as above. Incomplete reports may not be processed.

Note: We prefer in-app reports (registered users) for traceability, but we will accept emailed reports from non-registered parties.

What We Do After a Report

• We will create and store an internal record of the claim (claimant info, story ID, timestamps, uploaded evidence) for audit and legal purposes.
• The reported story will be temporarily hidden from public view while we review the claim.
• We may contact the uploader for additional information or to request their side of the story.
• If we determine the report is valid, we will remove or continue to keep the content hidden and take appropriate action (which may include account sanctions for repeat infringers).
• If we determine the report lacks merit, we will restore the story and notify the uploader and (if provided) the claimant.

We do not act as an arbitrator of copyright ownership; our role is to respond to reports reasonably and in good faith.

Counter-Notice / Response by the Uploader

If your content was removed or hidden and you believe the removal was mistaken or a misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice that includes:

• Your full name and contact information.
• Identification of the removed content (URL or story ID).
• A statement under good faith that the content was removed in error (for example, you own the content or you have permission).
• Electronic signature — Type your full name.

After receipt of a counter-notice we will review the claim and the counter-notice. If the counter-notice appears valid and there is no pending legal requirement to keep the content removed, we will restore the content as appropriate and notify the parties.

Repeat Infringers

Accounts that repeatedly upload infringing material or receive valid copyright reports may be suspended or terminated. We reserve the right to take stronger action for egregious or repeated violations.

Record Retention & Privacy

We will retain copies of reports, counter-notices, and related communications as necessary to comply with the law and for our own record-keeping/audit trail. Claimant contact information will be used only to process the claim and as otherwise permitted by our Privacy Policy.

Spam & Bad-Faith Reports

Submitting knowingly false or bad-faith reports (for example, to harass another user) may result in account action and could expose the submitter to legal liability.
